So I have been away quite a bit the last month or so, but was determined to submit two pieces I started last winter! I took photos of what I enjoyed in the Lowell Cemetery last fall and printed the few out I wanted to create paintings out of. Both statues from the cemetery, one being a figure with lots of drapery, this was quite a challenge. I don’t remember the last time I painted a whole figure, drapery, OR a statue! Probably college, and that was…..a long time ago haha! And once our summer show’s theme at the Brush Gallery was chosen I had to jump on those pieces. So the last few weeks of August I had to scramble and finish these up after my vacations to Vermont and Toronto.
The piece that ended up being chosen, “Lowell Cemetery During Fall,” will be on display September 28th, from 9:30am-12:30pm at the Lowell Cemetery Knapp Avenue entrance. This is a juried show so there will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners announced at noon. Hope to see you there!
